About the Pink Ribbons of Hope

History
Pink Ribbons of Hope is celebrating its 16th year raising critical funds for breast cancer research in Richmond. In the past 15 years, 2.2. million dollars (net) has been raised to support breast cancer research.

2009 Pink Ribbons of Hope
In August, September, and October, twelve events, including corporate golf, bridge, tennis, mah jongg, Zumba and ladies’ team golf are hosted at country clubs, racquet clubs and community centers in the Richmond area. In 2008, over 1,000 people helped us “Play Pink!” through participation in PROH. Each event is planned and staffed by volunteers.

Our Beneficiary
In 2007, Breast Cancer Research at VCU’s Massey Cancer Center was named the charitable beneficiary of the Pink Ribbons of Hope. Massey is one of 63 National Cancer Institute designated cancer centers and is working hard to become one of an even more elite group of Comprehensive Cancer Centers. Massey is on the cutting edge of breast cancer research and treats all patients, regardless of their ability to pay. Researchers at Massey are using genetics to determine which therapies will help patients the most.
